infection control and safety protocols

Health & Safety

At Dental Sleep Medicine of Athens, the health and safety of our patients and team is our highest priority. As a healthcare facility, we strictly adhere to professional infection control and safety protocols as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Georgia Department of Public Health, American Dental Association, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

A few of our infection control standards include:

  • Ongoing team education in prevention of cross-contamination and infectious disease transmission in a healthcare environment.
  • Pressurized steam-heat sterilization (autoclave) of instruments after each use.
  • Use of barrier-control equipment covers, surface disinfection and disposable products for items that cannot be heat sterilized.
  • Universal precautions for hand hygiene and use of personnel protection equipment (PPE).
  • Continual self-audits of infection control and safety procedures throughout our facility.

Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 in Our Community

In addition to our infection control and personnel safety standards, our team is committed to taking necessary measures to prevent airborne spread of COVID-19. We ask that our patients help us in this effort by following a few simple guidelines:

  • Please wear a mask while in our facility. If you do not have one, we will be glad to provide one for you.
  • If you are not feeling well or have been in close contact with someone that is ill, please give us a call to reschedule your appointment.
  • We ask that only the patient being seen attend their appointment (unless you are a caregiver or parent accompanying a patient).

We thank you for your support in keeping us all safe. If you have any questions about our safety or infection control practices, please do not hesitate to Contact Dental Sleep Medicine of Athens.
